Literature Text

In the darkest of nights,
When the ghosts come to play,
You stand there right by my side.
Strong as a diamond, unyielding with love.
No matter where the night leads,
Your heart is the place I call home.

The raging of the storm rocks back and forth,
I feel myself sliding, moving towards the edge.
Crying with fear I reach out for an anchor,
You are what I cling to, steadfast and unmoving.
No matter where the storm takes me,
Your heart is the place I call home.

In the final hours of your life,
I stay planted on my knees,
Begging for God to save you,
I cry and I beg, I cry and I beg.
In the roar of my fear you are there,
Clinging to my hand with such strength,
You speak such gentle words of love,
No matter where this life will now take me,
Your heart is the place I will always call home.

Day 10 of the National Poetry Writing Month.

~DrCrawford's most recent submitted photo's title inspired this piece, could've been longer but I didn't feel like it should get to wordy so I kept it fairly short.
