We've always had each other's backs,
From the day I was born.
As a tanned crazy kid running in the sun,
You were there watching, protecting.
Just waiting for the chance to save me.
And it's amazing to think how much you love me.
A love that burns as bright now as it did then.
(Even though you bug me more as I grow)
This love will always continue to show.
'Cause in a pack of many you and I stuck together;
Fighting for the scraps, for the chance to hold on.
We stand together, hands linked, embracing life.
With a kinship stronger than time, truer than true.
Grown as we are, we still stand strong, undefeated.
As brother and sister we soar.

Day 23 of the National Poetry Writing Month.

Today is my brother's birthday (his the only full sibling I have), wish this piece could have been better for him (maybe something better will come out later). Since I was born we've been so close, always have had each others backs, protecting and defending each other. I love him so much, I'm thankful to God for him. Even when he annoys me. :nod:

Jamie, speaking for my "twin" who is five years older than me, THANK YOU for sharing your thoughts about your bro. I just read this piece to my sister and WE UNDERSTAND of what you speak! However, she says now that we are older I bug her less. :)
